Ryan Edmund Thiel (they/he) is a photographer and visual artist living and working in the occupied Potawatomi lands known as Chicago. They also co-run Sixty, a collective of writers, editors, artists, curators, librarians, and archivists who publish and produce collaborative projects about artists, archival practice, art history, and culture in Chicago and the Midwest.
Ryan takes a contemplative approach to making photographs, emphasizing power and vulnerability through the nuances of form and pose. Care, inclusivity, and queerness lie at the center of their work.
